The pay is often the first thing we glance our eyes to when seeking an online teaching job…I'll be the first to admit to that!

After all, pay is an important factor in determining whether a job is right for you. It can also tell you a lot about the company and how much work is to be expected of you.

So here is a curated list of online teaching jobs with the highest maximum pay!

Need a Cheap Teaching Certificate? (TEFL/TESOL)

The $19 TESOL option from International Open Academy will be accepted by most online ESL teaching companies. Click the affiliate link below to read more:

(Please note – this list is made up of DigiNo approved companies. There may be other companies out there with higher pay, however, DigiNo only lists companies that I have direct contact with (to ensure correct information) or direct contact with current teachers who have approved the job as a viable online teaching role).

1. Whales English

Whales English have got everyone talking recently with their high pay structure. This is higher due to teaching 2 students at once for a class time of 50 minutes. SayABC also has a group student structure, however, the maximum pay is lower for a 40 minute class.

Whales English

Pay: $18 – $26 per hour
Certificate: Required
Degree Required: Bachelor's

2. PalFish

PalFish is a tricky one as it offers two types of classes. These classes are teaching adults, and teaching kids. There is potential to earn more with the Official Kids Course, however, due to the social media-esque nature of PalFish, your class bookings can be dependant on an algorithm.

There is still a great potential for earnings, as this review from a PalFish teacher highlights. Whales English above seems to be a much more viable option for your main bread-winning income, with PalFish being a flexible additional choice to slowly build up over time.

PalFish

Pay: $10 – $30 per hour
Certificate: Required
Degree: Not Required

$35 will be credited to your account once you receive a total of $1000 payments to your account.

3. Magic Ears

Part of the American English trio, Magic Ears is also a company that structures students in groups for classes. This seems to be a running theme for those with groups of students to have a higher pay. Whether it is a harder task to teach a group as opposed to just one student is up for debate!

Pay: $12 – $26 per hour
Certificate: Required
Education: Bachelor's/Student

4. Amazing Talker

This is a similar situation to that of PalFish where you are essentially building up a teacher profile. Amazing Talker is also similar to that of Cambly, as you can teach as many hours as you can cram in…the difference is Amazing Talker offers higher rate.

So this is another job where you are responsible for your bookings and building yourself up…which doesn't guarantee money, unlinke DaDa where your schedule is filled out for you.

Amazing Talker

Pay: $10 – $25+ per hour
Certificate: No
Degree Required: No

5. SayABC

SayABC have replaced DaDa in this list due to their base pay and bonus system currently being higher than DaDa's due to the uncertainty of the DaDa transition to a new payment structure.

DaDa are currently transitioning to a similar payment system to that of SayABC, however this system would only be active for new teachers and not current teachers. This would mean a higher average pay for both new and current SayABC teachers, compared to DaDa.

SayABC

Pay: $13 – $19 per hour
Certificate: Required
Education: Bachelor's

Update to List – DaDa

I originally included DaDa within the list of 5 due to their advertised new payment structure. However, this change seems to be a work in progress.

DaDa are currently updating their pay structure to include easily obtainable bonuses for newer teachers. This is for a new teaching system that they are slowly integrating. These bonuses will replace stand-by time pay, so therefore it is currently up in the air of the pay potential of DaDa

The change seems could lead to the offering of a lower base pay, but the nature of the bonuses generates a high potential maximum pay. The new system will also not include standby-time pay.

Due to the ever-changing nature of DaDa, we shall all wait and see how long this new structure lasts or how it will take shape in the long-term.

Full details on the pay structure can be found by clicking ‘Read more' in the DaDa box below:

DaDa

Pay: $14.50 – $23 per hour
Certificate: Required
Education: Bachelor's
