Ethos AI Jobs Review: The Short Version

Ethos suits people with several years in a professional field who want flexible, remote AI training work. Every role page shows its hourly rate before you apply.

It is selective. You go through a recorded AI voice interview and an ID check, and there is no promise of any amount of work. People on the Ethos subreddit describe long waits between a match and a project.

Our advice: find the role that fits your actual experience, apply to that role, and prepare examples from that field before the interview.

Open Ethos Roles and Listed Pay

Ethos has no public page that lists every open role. Inside the app you only see the roles matched to your profile.

So we checked the roles ourselves. On 2026-10-15 we found 69 open Ethos role pages. The table groups them by field, with the pay each page listed. Click a field to see its roles, each with a direct apply button.

What Is Ethos?

Ethos is an expert network run by Ethos Artificial Intelligence Limited, based in London. It connects people with real professional experience to companies that pay for that knowledge.

Most Ethos AI jobs are AI training work: creating, reviewing and annotating material in your own field so models learn how a professional does the job. The Expert Terms also list audio or video consultations, surveys, written reports and discrete tasks.

Matching uses your profile, career history, screening answers and public data about you. AI tools do the first pass, and Ethos staff or clients review the selection.

Does Ethos AI Actually Pay?

Yes. The Expert Terms say Ethos pays the rate or total agreed for each project, and the privacy policy names Revolut and Wise as its payment processors.

Several Ethos AI trainers on Reddit confirm they were paid. They also say hours stay pending until a quality sign-off.

Two limits sit in the terms. A project that is cancelled or ends early is not paid unless Ethos tells you otherwise, and prep or research time is unpaid unless Ethos approves it in writing first.

How Long Does Ethos Take to Pay?

Ethos tells you the payment terms at the start of each project. Most pay on an agreed cycle, such as weekly or monthly, or when the project ends.

Invoices and reports are due before the cycle closes and within three days of finishing. Miss that and the terms say your pay can be delayed or lost.

On Reddit, trainers say work that has not been signed off yet rolls into the next cycle.

Ethos AI Requirements

  • You are 18 or older and legally entitled to work as an independent contractor where you live
  • You pass a Persona identity check: a government ID, a live selfie photo and a short video
  • You clear sanctions and adverse-media screening, which can repeat while you work with Ethos
  • Your country of residence is one that Revolut or Wise can pay into
  • You complete the recorded AI voice interview
  • You can keep client work strictly confidential

How to Apply: Go Straight to Your Role

  1. Find your rolePick a role from the table above that matches what you have actually done, not just your job title.
  2. Apply to that roleApply from the role itself. Ethos's general AI chat also suggests roles, but people on the Ethos subreddit say those suggestions are often only a partial fit.
  3. Create your profileUse exact titles, dates and credentials. Matching reads your profile and public data about you, so keep your LinkedIn consistent.
  4. Take the AI voice interviewIt is recorded and transcribed, and AI writes the follow-up questions. Have two or three examples from that field ready. You can ask for a human review of any AI decision.
  5. Verify and onboardPass the Persona identity check and sanctions screening, then accept the project terms.
  6. Work and invoiceWork remotely on your own schedule, invoice within three days of finishing, and Ethos pays on the agreed cycle. You are a contractor, so tax is on you.

If you are not selected, you usually cannot reapply to the same role, and retakes are mainly for technical problems. Prepare before you start.

What the Ethos AI Interview Is Like

The Ethos AI interview is a voice conversation, not a skills test. It asks about your career story, a turning point, what you would happily repeat and what you are done with, then follows up on each answer.

It also covers what you are looking for: whether you are actively looking, the kind of work you want, where you are based and what it would take to make a move. Opportunities reach well beyond AI training, into full-time roles, advisory work, expert calls, research projects and fractional work.

There is no score at the end. The interviewer said the team reviews the conversation and gets in touch if there is a fit, and that a quiet spell is normal.

People on the Ethos subreddit put the interview at about 20 to 30 minutes, and say clear examples with real outcomes work best.

From Experience

I did my Ethos interview in October 2026. It felt like a chat about my career rather than an exam, and it kept digging into the why behind each answer.

It asked about my background, the kind of work I wanted and where I am based. When it asked what I would want to do, I talked through an AI system I built that learns from its own mistakes.

In a later Ethos interview for a teaching role, the AI latched onto the first example I gave and kept digging. I had picked a science topic I could not talk about in depth, and I spent the rest of it scrambling. Decide your strongest examples before you start, and apply for roles you are genuinely qualified for. An interview I did for a British English role went far better, because I studied English and could talk with confidence.

How to prepare

  • Have a 60-second version of your career story ready, with one turning point.
  • Bring two or three concrete examples of work you are proud of, with numbers where you have them.
  • Say clearly which kind of work you want, for example rating AI output, writing rubrics or running evaluations.
  • Know where you are based and your rough expectations on pay before you start.

Is Ethos AI Legit?

Yes. Ethos is a real company that pays experts. It is not the Ethos life insurance company, which shares the name.

  • Ethos Artificial Intelligence Limited is registered in England and Wales, with an office in London
  • Its Expert Terms and privacy policy, both last updated 2026-08-14, set out how projects, pay and personal data work
  • It pays through Revolut and Wise, and there is no fee to join
  • People on the Ethos subreddit confirm they have been paid, with hours pending until quality sign-off

Legit does not mean easy. Selection is competitive, there is no promise of work, and projects can pause. For how to check any platform, read are AI training jobs legit.

What Reddit Says About Ethos

We read the Ethos subreddit on 2026-10-15. Here is what comes up most, in our words.

What people like

  • People report being paid, some on a monthly cycle
  • Questions get answers in the subreddit, including how matching and retakes work
  • Once on a project, people describe feedback and quality checks that help them improve

What people struggle with

  • Long waits: being shortlisted or waitlisted for weeks is common
  • Matching: the AI chat suggests roles that are only a partial fit, and some people are matched and turned down many times
  • Similar work under different titles: several commenters say many roles lead to the same large project
  • Location: some experts were removed from projects over where they live, and there is no public country list
  • The interviewer: a few people describe a glitchy or laggy AI interview

The takeaway: apply to roles that truly fit your experience, prepare your examples, and treat Ethos as one income stream rather than your only one.

What To Know Before You Apply

Selection is competitive. The Expert Terms make no promise of any amount of work, and Reddit users describe long waitlists on popular projects.

The weekly hours on a listing are a ceiling. Projects are temporary and can pause, so treat Ethos as a second income rather than a salary.

Confidentiality is strict. You cannot name clients or share project details, and professional rules still apply, so a lawyer cannot discuss client matters and a healthcare worker cannot share patient data.
