If you train AI for Ethos, Revolut is one of the two services it pays through, alongside Wise. Revolut charges nothing to receive a bank transfer, and UK customers get US account details, so dollar pay can arrive as dollars and be converted when you choose.

How AI Training Platforms Pay
Each platform picks its own payout service. Revolut fits Ethos, which pays through Revolut or Wise.

What Is Revolut and How Does It Work?
Revolut is an app-based account. You hold money in several currencies, exchange between them in the app and spend with a Revolut card.
In the UK, Revolut Bank UK Ltd has been a fully licensed bank since March 2026, regulated by the PRA and the FCA. Eligible deposits in accounts moved to the bank are protected by the FSCS up to 120,000 GBP per person.
Revolut is moving UK accounts to the bank in stages. Accounts not yet moved stay e-money accounts, with money safeguarded at licensed banks. The app shows which one you have.

Receiving US Dollars With Revolut
What you get depends on where your account is registered.

Revolut does not charge to receive a bank transfer. On an international SWIFT transfer, the sending bank and intermediary banks may charge, and Revolut puts intermediary fees at 15 to 50 USD.
So a UK trainer paid over ACH avoids the SWIFT chain. An EEA trainer receiving USD gets it over SWIFT, where Wise USD account details may cost less.

Avoid the Early Conversion Loss
Converting too early costs more than any transfer fee. If dollars are paid into an account in pounds or euros, they are converted on the way in, at the rate that service uses.
- Mercor contracts are in US dollars, and Stripe or Wise converts them to your local currency at payout.
- PayPal charges no fee to receive a payment with no currency conversion, but in the UK it converts a balance at 3% above the base exchange rate.
- Revolut sets its own exchange rates from market data and adds a fee at weekends and above your plan allowance.

How I Get Paid as an AI Trainer
I'm Jason, and I run DigiNo from the UK. When I set up payouts on one platform, Revolut was one of the free options for dollars, and it landed in minutes.
My advice from getting paid as a contractor: be wary of conversions. Most companies pay out in US dollars, so receive dollars and convert them yourself when you choose, rather than letting the payment be converted on the way in.

Revolut sets its own exchange rates from market data. Converting on a weekday, inside your allowance, keeps the cost down.

How Does the Revolut Card Work?
The card spends from your Revolut balances. If you pay in a currency you hold, the money comes straight from that balance.
If you pay in a currency you do not hold, Revolut exchanges at the time of the transaction. Those automatic exchanges count toward your plan's fair usage limit, the same as exchanges you make yourself, so spending your dollar pay on a pound card payment uses up the allowance too.

Eligible deposits in UK accounts moved to Revolut Bank UK Ltd are FSCS protected up to 120,000 GBP per person. Accounts not yet moved are e-money accounts, with money safeguarded at licensed banks.
Mercor requires the payout bank account to be in your own legal name, so whichever account you use, open it in the same name as your platform profile.
