Is Turing Legit?
Yes. Turing is a real company that hires contractors for AI labs and businesses, and its help center sets out pay dates, onboarding and ID checks in detail.
- You work as an independent contractor and handle your own taxes (W-9 in the US, W-8BEN elsewhere)
- Pay goes straight to your bank or through Deel, depending on the project
- The dollar figure on a Turing job card is a referral bonus, not the role's pay
When we applied to a content analyst role on 2026-10-20, the rate step said most applicants for it were asking for up to 5 US dollars an hour, and suggested we lower ours. Decide your own rate before you apply.
The weak spots are speed and silence. Reviews can take six weeks, Turing only contacts people it moves forward, and you can't withdraw an application once it's in.
How to Apply to Turing
- Build your profileAdd your work history, skills and rate.
- Apply to a roleClick Apply on a role and fill in a short form, under 2 minutes. Some roles send you straight to tests.
- Wait for reviewTuring says this takes 48 hours to 6 weeks. No reply in that time usually means you weren't selected.
- InterviewShortlisted people do skill assessments and live interviews. The client makes the final decision.
- OnboardAccept the terms, set up two-step login, verify your ID with a passport or driver's license, and add tax and payment details.
A final ID rejection after manual review can't be reversed, so have one of those two documents ready. After a formal rejection, you wait three months before reapplying to the same role.
How Turing Pays
Hours you work are processed on the 5th calendar day of each month, and processing can take 2 to 3 more days.
When a project ends, the final payment releases on the 5th business day of the month and can take 5 to 7 business days to arrive.
Turing doesn't sponsor visas, and its roles ask for strong written and spoken English. Using AI to do assigned work can mean removal, no pay for that work and a permanent ban.
What Trainers Say About Turing
We read Turing threads in r/AiTraining_Annotation. Opinions are split. In our words:
- Applications sit for weeks, then move to archived with no word
- ID checks fail for people using national ID cards
- Assessments can be confusing, and some ask to record your screen, so close personal tabs first
- Others describe steady generalist or STEM work for months
Only start an application from turing.com or a role page here, never from a link a stranger sends you.
