Yes, RWS is a real company, and it pays freelancers for AI data work through a community it calls TrainAI. The work is mostly rating, annotation, transcription and language tasks, and most postings are tied to one language and one country.
RWS says joining TrainAI is free. Contributors on Reddit do describe being taken off projects without warning and long quiet spells.
Everything below comes from RWS's own pages and job board, read on 2026-10-12, plus a pass through Reddit the same day. DigiNo has no link with RWS and earns nothing from it.
Is RWS Legit?
RWS Holdings plc is incorporated in the UK and is the parent company of the RWS group. It calls itself an AI solutions company and says it works with 250,000 data specialists, language experts and domain professionals.
Its TrainAI page says the community has more than 100,000 active AI data specialists across more than 400 language variants and 175 countries.
The TrainAI FAQ gives three rules worth checking against any offer:
- There is no fee to join, and RWS says it will never ask you for a payment of any kind.
- Official TrainAI pages and emails come only from rws.com or moravia.com addresses. RWS Moravia is part of RWS.
- You must be 18 or older.

What TrainAI Contributors Do
RWS lists these roles for its TrainAI community: online rater, data collector, data annotator, search engine evaluator and ad evaluator. Tasks include:
- Rating search results and online ads.
- Collecting or creating text, audio, image or video data.
- Recording voice dialogues and conversations.
- Labeling and tagging data, with training provided.
- Typing out the text shown in images.
On 2026-10-12 its job board held 76 TrainAI postings, all remote. Most were contract roles. Five were part-time employee roles for people living in certain US states.
The postings that day included evaluators for Indian languages in the US and Canada, Brazilian Portuguese subject experts on topics from law to sports, legal annotators in several European and Asian languages, search engine evaluators and speech evaluators.

How You Get In
- Apply to a posting on RWS's job board. Its recruiting team contacts you about next steps.
- Finish the training and tests for the project.
- Complete tasks once you are invited.
- Get paid for the tasks you complete.
RWS says you need no experience to join, and the more tests you pass, the more projects open up. After you sign up, project invitations arrive by email.
You need your own Windows or Mac computer, fast internet, an email account and the latest Chrome. RWS does not supply equipment.
Some roles add their own rules. The German search evaluator posting, for example, asks for 5 to 20 hours a week, a signed NDA, a client test before work starts, and only one rater per household.

How RWS Pays
TrainAI pays per task, and RWS says it tells you the task rate before you start. You choose PayPal or a bank account when you register.
Most postings list a rate. On 2026-10-12, 69 of the 76 did. Here is a sample, as written in the postings.
| Posting | Listed at | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Legal Annotator, Dutch | 36.45 USD/hr | Amsterdam |
| Brazilian Portuguese Expert, Law and Ethics | 36 USD/hr | Recife |
| Brazilian Portuguese Expert, Sports | 21.60 USD/hr | São Paulo |
| AI Linguistic Evaluator, Telugu | 18 USD/hr | Dallas |
| AI Linguistic Evaluator, Telugu | 16 USD/hr | Toronto |
| AI Conversation Specialist, Saudi Arabic | 15 USD/hr | Riyadh |
| Search Engine Evaluator, German | Up to 14 EUR/hr | Germany |
| Speech AI Evaluation, Korean | 10 USD/hr | Seoul |
| Audio Transcription, Vietnamese | 6 USD/hr | Prague |
These are the rates the postings state, not what anyone will make. The same role can pay differently by city, and the search evaluator rates are a ceiling.

What Contributors Say on Reddit
We read recent RWS threads in r/AiTraining_Annotation. The same points came up.
- A transcriber was removed from a project after three days with good quality scores and no reason given. Others in the thread said that project had been paused.
- Several people say RWS paused them for months. One said they were invited back later and have had steady work since.
- Contributors say emails can bounce, and the way to reach support is a ticket through the help desk link in your invitation email, with your RWS ID and project name.
- Some people hit login errors on Tipalti, the payment account RWS invited them to set up, and fixed it through a support ticket.
- Some posts offer to verify or run RWS accounts for other people. Steer clear of anyone offering that.
