Yes, TransPerfect is a real company, and it pays freelancers for AI data work through its DataForce division. Most DataForce jobs are short, one-off projects: recording your voice, writing a story, rating content or joining a study in person.
Payment can be slow. You are paid only after your work passes a quality check, and some contributors on Reddit say they waited months.
Everything below comes from TransPerfect and DataForce's own pages, read on 2026-10-12, plus a pass through Reddit the same day. DigiNo has no link with TransPerfect and earns nothing from it.
Is TransPerfect Legit?
TransPerfect is a language services company founded in 1992. Its about page says it began as a two-person company in a dorm room and now has more than 160 offices.
DataForce is the part of TransPerfect that sells AI training data. Its site says it is “part of TransPerfect” and draws on a network of more than 1 million contributors.
Contributor jobs live on the DataForce Community site, a TransPerfect address. Project questions go to a @transperfect.com email listed on each job page.

What DataForce Contributors Do
DataForce Community lists three kinds of task, plus longer freelance, part-time and full-time roles:
- Data sourcing, such as recording phrases, conversations or videos.
- Data annotation, which means tagging images, audio or text.
- User studies, where you test a product or workflow and give feedback.
On 2026-10-12 its projects page showed 25 open projects. 15 were remote and 10 were on site, in cities such as London, Paris, Pune and Hyderabad.
These were among the open projects that day.
- Recording short voice assistant phrases on your phone, for speakers whose first language is not English.
- Writing one short story of about 4,000 or 6,000 words to test machine translation, open to writers with a relevant degree or real writing experience.
- Rating school learning content, open only to qualified middle and high school teachers.
- Recorded conversations in your language at a DataForce office.

How DataForce Pays
DataForce says pay can be per task, per hour or a flat amount, and each job page lists it. Here is what some job pages listed on the day we checked.
| Project | Listed at | Country |
|---|---|---|
| Speech recording, non-native English (about 30 minutes) | $25 per accepted project | United States |
| Speech recording, non-native French | $33 per accepted project | France |
| Short story writer, English (about 6,000 words) | $468 per accepted story | United States |
| Short story writer, English (about 4,000 words) | $312 per accepted story | United States |
| Short story writer, Hindi (about 6,000 words) | $250 per accepted story | India |
| Short story writer, Korean (about 3,900 words) | $628 per accepted story | South Korea |
These are the amounts the job pages state, not what anyone will make. Many of these projects are a single task. The story projects, for example, assign one story per writer.
Before your first payment you choose a payment method and fill in a tax form. Payment options depend on your country and include PayPal, wire transfer, check, Western Union and gift cards.
Timing has two stages. The quality check on remote projects can take two to six weeks, and only then does the payment clock start. One writing project quoted another 10 to 15 business days for PayPal after acceptance.

What Contributors Say on Reddit
We read threads about DataForce and TransPerfect in r/WorkOnline. Opinions split mostly on payment.
- Several people say it is legit. One said they were paid every two weeks to PayPal and could reach support.
- Others say they waited months. One finished a task in February and was still unpaid in April, and another said payment took more than six months.
- An audio annotator said they had been paid once in three months and got only canned replies, then later posted that the money arrived.
- One transcriber said the guidelines kept changing, so their real hourly pay came out far below the stated rate.
- Some applications ask for a one-minute video introduction, and expert roles can include a written test of prompts that current AI models struggle with.
