AI Training Jobs for Teachers: What the Work Is and Who Gets Hired

AI training jobs for teachers, checked 2026-10-13: 5 Ethos teacher roles with listed hourly pay, what the work is, who gets hired, and what K-12 means.

AI training jobs for teachers pay experienced educators to check and improve the lesson plans, progress reports and special education paperwork that AI models write. On 2026-10-13, Ethos, an expert network, had dozens of teacher ads open with the hourly rate listed. Every one of them listed a United States location.

Here is what the work involves, who gets hired, and what teachers who applied say about it. Everything comes from the ads themselves, read on 2026-10-13, plus a pass through the Ethos subreddit.

What AI Training Work Looks Like for Teachers

The Ethos ads say the client is a leading foundational AI lab that wants teachers to help train its language model on school documents, spreadsheets and slide decks. You create, check and improve what the AI writes.

For classroom teachers and curriculum leads, the ads list:

  • Unit and lesson plans.
  • Curriculum maps and pacing guides.
  • Parent-teacher conference notes.
  • Student progress report narratives.
  • Classroom management plans.
  • School improvement and professional development materials.

Special education ads cover IEP goals, present-levels narratives, 504 plans, accommodation tables, behavior intervention plans and progress-monitoring trackers. University ads cover lecture slide decks, course materials and assessment rubrics.

What K-12 Means If You Teach in the UK

Most of these ads ask for K-12 experience. K-12 is the American name for school from kindergarten through 12th grade.

In England that is roughly Reception to Year 13, so primary school through sixth form. The American School in London maps 12th grade to Year 13, and GOV.UK puts Reception at age 4 to 5.

So a UK primary teacher, secondary teacher or head of department has K-12 experience in the sense these ads mean. Special education roles are narrower. They ask for five or more years writing or reviewing IEPs and IDEA compliance paperwork, as the ads put it. If those terms are new to you, the classroom roles are the better fit.

Listed in Ethos job ads, checked 2026-10-13. Location on every ad: United States or a US city.

These are the rates the ads state, not what anyone will earn. A listing is no promise of work, and hours depend on the project.

The ads ask for 5 to 20 hours a week on a flexible schedule, fully remote, starting as soon as possible.

The listing location is the United States. Some ads name the whole country and others a city, such as New York, Chicago or Atlanta. The ads do not say whether teachers outside the US can apply.

Who Gets Hired

Each K-12 ad lists the same requirements.

  • At least four years of teaching, instructional coaching or school administration.
  • Direct ownership of curriculum planning, parent communications or school improvement documents, plus fluency in standards-aligned lesson design.
  • Expert-level skill with documents, spreadsheets and slides, and strong written communication.

The work is judging written material, so a teacher who has written schemes of work, reports and improvement plans is a closer fit than one who mainly teaches from a set curriculum.

Put those documents front and center when you write your profile. Step 5 of our guide shows how to build a profile that gets accepted.

How the Application Works

Ethos screens people with a recorded AI voice interview. Its privacy policy says AI tools write the follow-up questions and evaluate the interview, and that selection combines that with human review.

Trainers on Reddit say the interview takes about 20 to 30 minutes and covers your career. After it, you apply to opportunities and wait for a match, which can take weeks.

Our post on Ethos AI jobs walks through every step, from the interview to ID checks and payouts. You can rehearse with the free AI interview practice first.

What Teachers Report on Reddit

We read the education threads in r/askethos up to 2026-10-13. There are only a handful, but they are worth knowing.

  • A primary teacher who applied for the educator role was accepted to a generic Expert Opportunity with no subject named. Others guess Ethos is building a general pool from it.
  • One commenter says a second AI interview brought more roles onto their dashboard.
  • A teacher removed from the education project says the site kept sending them back to that role when they tried other teaching ads.
  • Waitlists of several weeks are common across all roles.

Removal from a project happens, sometimes after writing is flagged as AI-written. Write your own material, and keep notes on your hours and tasks.

Is AI Training Work Right for You as a Teacher?

It fits teachers with several years in the classroom who write a lot of planning and reporting documents and want part-time remote work. It is project work, so hours come and go.

It is a weaker fit if you are newly qualified or outside the US, since the current ads ask for four or more years and list US locations. Our guide to remote AI training jobs covers other ways in.

AI Training Jobs for Teachers FAQ

Can teachers do AI training jobs?

Yes. On 2026-10-13 Ethos had open ads for teachers, curriculum coordinators, heads of school, special education staff and university lecturers. The work is creating and improving AI-written lesson plans, reports and other school documents.

How much do AI training jobs for teachers pay?

Each Ethos ad lists an hourly rate. The table in this post shows the listed rates on 2026-10-13. Those are listed rates, not earnings, and hours depend on the project.

Can UK teachers apply for K-12 AI training jobs?

K-12 roughly matches Reception to Year 13, so UK teaching experience fits the description. Every ad we found listed a United States location, though, and the ads do not say whether other countries can apply.

The K-12 ads we read ask for four or more years of teaching, coaching or school administration, not a specific license. University roles ask for a PhD or terminal degree.
