How to Prepare
- Block out more time than the estimate. DataAnnotation says successful applicants spend more time on thorough answers instead of rushing.
- Use a quiet session on a computer you set up yourself, with no VPN running, since the ID check later flags VPNs.
- Read the full instructions before you start each part, then read them again when you finish.
- Explain why, not only what. Trainers on Reddit say the test rewards clear justification of your choices more than general knowledge.
- Write everything yourself. Do not use an AI tool or paste in text from elsewhere.

The Identity Check
DataAnnotation verifies identity through Persona. It prompts you after you log in, and there is no time limit to finish.
- Have a physical, valid, government-issued photo ID, such as a passport or driver's license.
- Photograph the front and back on a flat, well-lit surface with no glare.
- Take a selfie and turn your head fully to each side when asked. A phone camera usually works best.
- Turn off any VPN on your phone and computer.
DataAnnotation says it will never ask you to pay for the ID check or for anything else.

After You Submit
DataAnnotation says it emails you within a few days if you pass. If you hear nothing, your application is either still in review or was not accepted, and it says it cannot reply to every applicant.
On Reddit, timing reports range from hours to a couple of weeks. Long-time members say most people who get in hear back within that window, and some describe a second, core assessment and the ID check before final acceptance.
If two weeks pass with no email, apply elsewhere instead of waiting.
